Are you feeling down a lot these days. Do you feel like life is getting too monotonous? Living life without having fun can make things very boring and unhealthy. Men who have more fun succeed more in life, career and relationships.

Before reading on write down the last time you had fun and try to understand why it made fun for you. Give it couple of minutes.

Are you done? Now read on and see if the below list matches the things that you experienced then.

  1. You tried something new: Trying new activities or experiences can be a great way to have fun and broaden your horizons. This is why people take vacations. You can try a new hobby, or visit a new place and meet new people. The idea is to step out of your comfort zone. It can even mean starting something that you have always wanted to do. The only criteria is that you should WANT to do it and thinking about it should feel exciting for you.
  2. You spent time with people you enjoy: To have fun spend time with people you like and who share your interests. Join a club. Attend social events. Call and hang out with friends. If the people around you are fun, you are bound to have fun by osmosis. With the same logic stop receiving calls from boring people.
  3. It was sports: To have fun play sports. Men need a spirit of competition and a sense of camaraderie with fellow mates. Very few things in life can match the exhilaration that is felt when a game is won. The true self comes out at the field and it is fun to be real and go ballistic.
  4. You were present: Dont rush. Be present in the moment and enjoy what you’re doing. To have fun you need to stop and enjoy things. Be mindful. Rushing through the holiday from one place to another will just make you tired and irritated. Get down from your bike and enjoy the sunset. Sit and have a cup of coffee with your wife. Watch over your kid. Take the time to savor the moment and I promise it will always be worth it.
  5. It was not boring: This one seems obvious but you have to stop doing boring things to have the time to do things that interests you. Talk to your manager and ask him to stop making you attend all those boring meetings. Stop calling that school buddy who is perpetually jealous and is always complaining about the system, government, neighbour etc. There is actually a more important reason to stop doing boring things. Boring things erode the fun in your soul. You don't want to “hurt” their feelings so you go to that mediocre book launch, but all these things pile up and one day you find that you don't have any time for yourself. One advantage of saying NO to boring things is that then your buddies know they need to level up if they want your attention. So guard your time like a tiger.

Remember, what’s fun for one person may not be fun for another, so don’t be afraid to experiment and find what works for you
