Whether to stay in India or move to a foreign country is a decision that is plaguing everyone According to a latest report, India has the largest diaspora of people living outside the country at 18 million. And you don't need to know the statistics, you can just deduce it from the prevailing sentiment. Of course if you get a good opportunity in Europe or US you should take benefit. I am just saying that you should not be dogged about it and put everything on the line in pursuit of moving to a different country. India is not that bad. Here are some reasons why India is a nice country to live in:

  1. Cultural diversity: You don't need to move to a different country to experience varied cultures. India is known for its diverse and vibrant culture. With over 22 official languages and countless dialects, India offers an array of cultural experiences. From different festivals, traditions, cuisines, music, and dance, you can experience a range of cultures without leaving the country. You get to experience so many holidays and festivals.
  2. Growing economy: India has been experiencing robust economic growth in recent years, which has led to numerous job opportunities and an increasing number of new businesses. This growth is expected to continue in the coming years, making India an attractive destination for entrepreneurs, investors, and job seekers. As per recent report, India will become a 5 trillion economy by 2025–26. But you have to be in India to ride this tremendous growth.
  3. Jobs: You don't have to worry about jobs in India. As per reports, India is the 3rd largest ecosystem for startups globally with over 77,000 DPIIT-recognized startups. Here is a list of large companies in India where you can try for a job. India is well known for its talented people and companies are investing in India in billions. If you continually strive to make your skills better, you can get high paying jobs in India as well.
  4. Affordable cost of living: The cost of living in India is relatively low compared to many other countries, making it an affordable place to live. Basic necessities such as food, housing, and transportation are relatively inexpensive, allowing you to stretch your budget and save more.
  5. Natural beauty: India is home to an incredible array of natural beauty, including beaches, mountains, forests, and deserts. There are many breathtaking places to visit, from the snow-capped Himalayas in the north to the palm-fringed beaches of Goa in the south. You can move to whatever ticks you.
  6. World-class education: We have some of the world’s top-ranked universities and research institutions such as IITs and IIMs, offering world-class education in various fields. Pursuing education in India can provide you with high-quality education, practical experience, and networking opportunities that can set you up for a successful career.

Do not believe the myth of the foreign country. Even if you are decided on moving, make sure that you do your due diligence before moving. Foreign countries are romanticized by people who live there so that they can impress you. Here are a few reasons why your favorite foreign country might be a mirage:

  1. Unrealistic expectations: People may have unrealistic expectations of foreign countries based on what they see in movies, social media, or the experiences of others. This can create an idealized view of life in foreign countries that may not reflect reality. Just talk with someone who is actually living there and ask them practical questions such as how much they are earning, how much they are spending and what is their general life style there.
  2. Cultural shock: Moving to a foreign country can be a culture shock for many people, as they may struggle to adapt to the new environment, customs, and language. This may turn out to be overwhelming.
  3. Financial constraints: Moving to a foreign country will be expensive. You should not go if you do not have the financial means to make such a move. You will have to work harder than the normal person to make similar amounts of money that they are making because for them also you are a foreign person and they are not going to trust you as easily as a native.
  4. Immigration policies: Some countries have strict immigration policies that make it difficult for people to move there, even if they have the financial means and desire to do so. Similar to ours their politicians also have to cater to their vote bank. Neither their political system is going to favor you, nor their administration.
  5. Homesickness: Being away from family and friends is challenging. You will not be able to see your parents or family and friends. There will be family functions and you will just be a part of them through the 5 minute whatsapp video call. You will then have to ask yourself if that is worth it.

In most cases, staying in India is probably the better decision for you. But in case you have decided to move, take into account all the factors and make sure its the right call for you.
